Q&A

Q: 2-piece or 3-piece?
A: 3-piece for sure! 2-piece is more for business purposes.

Q: SB or DB?
A: A hard question... I don't actually own a DB suit though, but a 3-piece DB suit will be attractive to me. For now I stick to 3-piece SB suits.

Q: Suits or separate jacket and pants?
A: Suits. I have tried the other choice but I'm not really into that.

Q: Skirt suits or pant suits?
A: Skirt suits for sure.  Unfortunately I wouldn't get a chance to wear that in this life.

Q: Favorite color for suit/uniform?
A: I prefer dark colors to light ones. I think dark brownish might be my choice. I just love to see those colors on winter suits especially tweed suits. Plus, I have a special favor on the black color.

Q: White shirts or color shirts?
A: White shirts. I wear color shirts only for a few times.

Q: Detachable collars or regular collars?
A: Regular ones. It's a hard choice for me. I guess I might prefer the other choice if I get one of it that fits well.

Q: Neckties or bowties?
A: Neckties. Actually I haven't tried wearing a bowtie, but I think I might prefer a long neckwear that stretches down, covering the shirt buttons and being tucked into the vest. Just don't think it's appropriate to expose any shirt buttons.

Q: Favorite tie knot?
A: The double knot. Very solid and snug.

Q: Favorite color for ties?
A: Versatile colors are all good colors. If I'm only allow to pick one then burgundy is it.

Q: Favorite accessary?
A: Collar pins. Can't dress up without one.

Q: Pin collars or tab collars?
A: Pin collars, although I love tab collars as well, as both of them firmly hold the tie knot. I feel divine when I put on a collar pin by pinching it through the holes on the collar.

Q: Favorite dress shoes?
A: I like dressy leather boots a lot.

Q: Summer or winter?
A: Mostly winter. I enjoy dressing myself up in a cold and gray winter morning at 7pm, wearing the full outfit with a scarf and gloves, and walk into the mystery morning fog. It's also quite fun to fully dress up in summer and get sweaty too.

Q: Favorite job that requires formal wears?
A: Hard to say. I wish I could be either a ground staff at the airport, or a luxury butler, or a funeral director. I might fit in the funeral director job quite well as I love the suppressed and solemn working environment. Unfortunately my current job doesn't impose a formal dress code.

Q: Favorite era in the history?
A: Early 20th century. I would love to wear a strict suit and a stiff collar (and a tie of course) all day every day. Late 1940s would be great too.

The First Post: An Introduction

Hello! This is my first post in this blogger, which as mentioned is dedicated to people who share the same interest of wearing a strict suit-and-tie outfit and appreciating women wearing such an outfit with me.

A bit about myself. I was born and brought up in China and now I'm an engineering graduate student in the US. I developed this interest (women in tie, referred to as "WiT" in the rest of my posts) since I was a grammar school student. When I was in grade 1, the school I attended used to impose a strict dress code that requires students to wear a black three-piece suit / skirt suit with a white shirt, a red tie and dress shoes every Monday for the flag-raising ceremony. Varying from class to class, some of the head teachers even required the dress uniform to be worn in all the three days in a week when there was no PE class. I enjoyed wearing it and standing in the crowd seeing so many students, especially girls so strictly and smartly dressed in it as well. However, I didn't got too much chances of wearing it at the age, as I only gradually developed this interest until grade 3 or 4, when very sadly, the dress code was aborted and students who wore the dress uniform became fewer and fewer. After a few years of being isolated from any suit and tie outfits, I got my first suit after I went to undergrad. It's a black three-piece suit, almost the same style as the one I ever wore. I love this suit and I still wear it now. As I started making money, I also started building up my closet. Currently I have 4 suits and I wear them at least once a week, despite the environment around me is super casual in the west coast. I collected WiT pictures from the Internet, and now I have a considerably huge collection that are manually categorized and maintained by myself.

My ideal WiT outfit, as I have posted on Shirt and Tie Forum but with minor changes here, would be:

- Long-sleeve white shirt (not blouse) with a high and stiff collar and French cuffs. All buttons should be buttoned up.
- High waist black pencil skirt, just covering the knees. Better with slits in both sides.
- Thin black waist belt.
- Black waist coat with silk back, should be fit enough to show the curve of the front.
- Black jacket. Should be fit and all buttons should be buttoned up.
- Black silk necktie. Should be tied snug and tight. The tail of the tie should be tucked into the skirt if the tie is too long. The part of the tie above the waist coat be slightly pulled out to show an arc.
- Golden collar bar to support the tie knot.
- Black sheer seamed thigh stockings.
- Black suspender.
- 3-inch black heels.
- White pocket square.
- White gloves.

My web name inezhynes comes from Inez Hynes, an Australian National Airways hostess circa 1930s. In this picture she shows an impeccable image in her uniform. Source: https://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/resource/B+7798/34

I'll be posting WiT related blogs here, mainly talking about different kinds of WiT outfits, e.g. school uniforms, military uniforms, vintage fashions, etc. Sometimes I might talk about my own experience of wearing suit and tie as well. (I'm NOT a crossdresser by the way.) I don't think I'm able to do a regular post but I'll try my best.

I'm also active on Shirt and Tie ForumPinterest and Instagram as inezhynes.
